One of Japan's most challenging peaks with exposed chains and ladders.
Tsurugi-dake (2,999m) is considered Japan's most dangerous non-technical climb and one of the last peaks to be summited in the country. The standard Betsu-zan route involves traversing the notorious Kani-no-Yoko-bai (Crab's Sideways Crawl) and Kani-no-Tate-bai (Crab's Vertical Crawl), sections of sheer cliff with chains and ladders. It is a peak that commands deep respect and rewards experienced climbers with an unmatched sense of achievement.
