Unique saw-toothed mountain in Chiba with a cliff lookout and giant Buddha carving.
Nokogiriyama (329m) is a dramatically sculpted mountain on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, named for its saw-tooth ridgeline created by centuries of stone quarrying. The mountain is home to Nihon-ji Temple, one of Japan's largest cliff-carved Buddha statues, and the thrilling Jigoku Nozoki (Hell Peek) overlook. Despite its modest elevation, the exposed cliff trails and panoramic views of Tokyo Bay make it a memorable hike.
