Mt. Oyama

Historic pilgrimage mountain in Kanagawa with shrine and tofu cuisine.

Mt. Oyama (1,252m) is a prominent peak in the Tanzawa Mountains of Kanagawa Prefecture, visible from much of the Kanto Plain. The mountain has been a pilgrimage destination for centuries, with Oyama Afuri Shrine perched partway up the slope and a stone-paved approach road lined with tofu restaurants. The hike offers dense forests, ancient stone monuments, and sweeping views of Sagami Bay and the Kanto region.
