Mt. Daisen (1,729m) is the highest peak in the Chugoku region, often called "Hoki Fuji" for its elegant shape when viewed from the west. Located in Tottori Prefecture, this volcanic mountain features a well-maintained trail through one of Japan's largest beech forests, leading to sweeping views of the Sea of Japan coast. The mountain is particularly stunning in autumn foliage and winter snow.

Access
Take the JR San'in Line to Yonago Station, then a bus to Daisen (about 50 minutes). By car, use the Yonago Expressway to Mizoguchi IC. Daisen is about 2 hours from Hiroshima by car.
Warnings & Safety
The trail above the treeline is exposed to strong winds. The north face has collapsed sections—stay on marked trails. Winter climbing requires full alpine gear. Trail can be crowded during autumn foliage season. Wooden boardwalks on the upper section can be slippery.
