Mt. Asahidake (2,291m) is Hokkaido's highest peak, located in the heart of Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan's largest national park. The mountain offers a subarctic alpine landscape of volcanic vents, steaming fumaroles, snow-filled valleys, and vast flower fields. The ropeway provides access to the Sugatami Pond circuit, a spectacular loop through terrain that feels closer to Siberia than Japan.
