Japan's second highest peak in the Southern Alps with dramatic mountain scenery.
Kitadake (3,193m) is the second highest peak in Japan and the crown of the Southern Alps (Minami Alps). Less crowded than Mt. Fuji, it offers a more authentic alpine experience with pristine ridgelines, alpine flower meadows, and sweeping views of the surrounding 3,000-meter peaks. The Buttress route on the east face is one of Japan's premier alpine rock climbing routes.
