月山は山形県にある標高1,984mの山で、1,400年以上の歴史を持つ出羽三山の一つとして修験道の信仰を集めています。なだらかな草原の山頂台地は夏に高山植物で覆われ、希少なガッサンフウロも見られます。深い雪が夏まで残り、日本一遅いスキーシーズンと古の巡礼路を同時に楽しめます。
